- These steps are only required for models imported from Autodesk® AliasStudio™ (previously known as Alias StudioTools). Models from other CAD formats can be imported directly.

AliasStudio Version 13 software provides a SaveLayers plug-in that lets you automatically export separate files for each layer. With multiple files, you can use distinct tessellation settings for each file (for example, use finer tessellation for small parts and coarser tessellation for large surfaces).
AliasStudio 13版本中提供了一个保存层的插件,通过该插件能够让您自动为每一个层导出文件。对于这些多文件来说,你可以设置不同的精度(例如,对于小部件采用较高的精度,对于大面采用较低的精度)
This plug-in is not available for Versions 10-12 of the AliasStudio software. In these versions, you must explicitly save each layer as a separate file if you want to use different tesselation settings.

Prepare AliasStudio models
准备AliasStudio模型
- Before importing a AliasStudio model, follow these steps to ensure that the model will display correctly in Autodesk® Showcase™.
在导入AliasStudio模型之前,下面的这些步骤可以增强模型在Autodesk® Showcase™.中完美精确显示的系数。
For best results when viewed with Autodesk Showcase materials and environments, models should be built in real world size in their original modeling package.
为了能够在Autodesk Showcase中完美显示材质和环境,数据模型应该在最原始的模型中采用真实的比例建立。
In AliasStudio:
1. Make a copy of your model (so that you can keep a copy of the original).
建立模型副本(方便你保留原始档)。
2. Make sure all layers are visible.
确保所有的图层可见。
3. Remove all layers and objects that you will not want to view in Autodesk Showcase.
删除那些你不想在Showcase中显示的物件。
(This will speed up the workflow and the speed of interaction.)
这步可以加速工作流程和提高交互式处理的速度。
4. Group relevant geometry into layers if you haven’t already (for example, put dashboard components into a layer, the car body into a layer, the tires into a layer, and so on).
假如您还没有准备好的话,就将相关部件进行群组。(例如,将仪表板、挡泥板等置于同一层,将车身置于同一层,轮胎置于同一层,依此类推)
This will make it easier for you to set up alternatives and assign materials to the model.
这将方便你设置、切换、赋予相关部件材质
5. Create geometry for any symmetry in layers.
在图层里面为对称组件,建立“真实”模型。
Autodesk Showcase software does not import symmetrical geometry, but it does import mirrored geometry (and lets you duplicate and mirror geometry in a scene).
Showcase不会导入对称数据,当是它会将已经镜像过的对称数据导入(让在我们在场景中,复制镜像相关对称组件)。
6. Create geometry for any instances.
为instances 建立geometry。[此项系 特殊复制]
7. Remove construction history (to ensure your changes are kept):
删除构造历史。 (确保改变保存)
Select Delete > Delete constr history.
If you need to update the model often …

The Autodesk Showcase software allows you to show and reverse normals (Edit > Show Normals, Edit > Reverse Normals), but you may want to fix normals permanently in AliasStudio if you plan on updating the model often.
Showcase允许您显示、转换法线 (Edit > Show Normals, Edit > Reverse Normals), 但假如你计划经常对模型进行更新,你可以在AliasStudio中进行彻底匹配。
In AliasStudio:
1. View the model to see if the shaded surfaces are facing in the correct direction:
查看模型来明确这些着色面的方向是否正确。
Select Display Tgls > Shade.
2. Select from the palette Object Edit > Normal tools > Unify Normals.
Align the normals facing toward the camera (outward) by selecting groups of attached surfaces.
将选择模型的表面的法线方向统一起来。(法线向外,面向摄影机)
Create stitched and shelled surfaces
建立实体
An autostitch script is used when creating APF files to shell (stitch) together all contiguous surfaces in the same layer sharing the same material.
当建立APF 时,一个自动缝合的程序将会被用于将同一层中使用同种材质的相邻曲面缝合在一起。
The autostitch script can be turned off during import if you choose one of the default tessellation scripts identified as “Not Merged.” If you turn it off, you need to stitch together and shell these surfaces in AliasStudio. (Otherwise, the surfaces won’t show continuous textures.)
当你在导入模型的时候,选择是默认设置为”Not Merged”,自动缝合程序将会被关闭。假如你将自动缝合程序关闭,你需要在AliasStudio中进行缝合转换。
Save individual layer *.wire files
保存独立图层的.wire文件
Save the components assigned to each layer as one individual .wire file.
将相关的组件保存为独立图层的文件。
(By creating several files for a model, you will be able to import particular parts of the model into Autodesk Showcase, keep track of your layers, and get better feedback while loading files.)
(为一个模型通过创建几个文件,你将可以导入详细的部件至Showcase中,保留你的图层路径,这样你将更好的最终导入文件。)
In AliasStudio:
1. Select all components assigned to a layer.
选择所有组件赋予一个图层。
2. Select File > Export > Active As (*.wire).
导出
3. Give the file a name you’ll be able to recognize.
为文件起个好记的名字
4. Click Save.
保存
